The first half was barren with LDU de Quito showing more threat in front despite the fact that Real Madrid were the most attacking side. But the second period presented six goals and it was no other man but Cristiano Ronaldo who opened the scoring.
The Portuguese winger broke the deadlock on 50 minutes with a well-taking penalty kick. This incident all happened after Ronaldo was pushed in the penalty box by LDU de Quito’s Norberto Carlos Araujo.
Granero, Metzelder, and Negredo all scored afterwards with LDU de Quito netting twice in between to make a 4-2 result.
Real Madrid’s victory over LDU de Quito on Tuesday night means that the Spanish giants are through to the semifinals of the Peace Cup tournament. They’ll face Juventus who beat Seongnam 1-0 earlier.
