Cristiano Ronaldo scores his first ever Real Madrid goal

Real Madrid’s new signing Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first ever goal in the colors of Los Blancos as his team progressed to the semifinals of the Peace Cup competition.

The first half was barren with LDU de Quito showing more threat in front despite the fact that Real Madrid were the most attacking side. But the second period presented six goals and it was no other man but Cristiano Ronaldo who opened the scoring.

The Portuguese winger broke the deadlock on 50 minutes with a well-taking penalty kick. This incident all happened after Ronaldo was pushed in the penalty box by LDU de Quito’s Norberto Carlos Araujo.

Granero, Metzelder, and Negredo all scored afterwards with LDU de Quito netting twice in between to make a 4-2 result.

Real Madrid’s victory over LDU de Quito on Tuesday night means that the Spanish giants are through to the semifinals of the Peace Cup tournament. They’ll face Juventus who beat Seongnam 1-0 earlier.

Torres wants to match Ronaldo's feats

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres wants to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the Premier League's top player.

The Spain forward, who has scored 50 goals in 84 games for the Reds since signing from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007, is confident he can help end the Merseysiders' 20-year wait for a league title and put the achievements of the Portuguese in the shade.

Torres said: "Of course, my ambition is to be seen in that same way as Cristiano Ronaldo was seen at Manchester United.

"First we have to win trophies. I know only then will people be able to speak the same way about Liverpool and me as they have done (about) Ronaldo and United.

"We're excited because we think this can be the year for Liverpool. But we know how difficult it's going to be."

Ronaldo's goals and all-round play was instrumental in United winning three league titles in a row but he has now joined Real Madrid in a world record £80million deal.

Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand Holds No Grudges Against Cristiano Ronaldo

Rio Ferdinand has admitted he respects former team mate Cristiano Ronaldo's decision to join his boyhood heroes, Real Madrid.

The England defender said it may be difficult for some to understand why anyone would want to leave United, but for Ronaldo it was something he dreamed about as a boy.

The Red Devils will certainly miss his input on the pitch, but according to the England defender, none of the United players hold any grudges towards Ronaldo.

"I don't think any of the lads are bitter or should be bitter towards 'Ronnie'," Ferdinand told The Daily Mirror.

"You have to look at it this way - he came here as a young lad and gave six years of his career to this club.

"Bearing in mind careers average out between ten to 12 years, he's given half his career to United, and I think you have to respect that.

"You can't put a shadow over someone's dream. Since he was a kid he's wanted to play for Real Madrid.

"Playing for United is the holy grail for some people, and it's those people who probably don't understand why he wants to go somewhere else that - for him - equals that holy grail.

"He'll always have a great affinity with the players here and I'm sure in the long-term the fans will see he was a great servant to the club."

Ronaldo is massive loss - Fergie

Sir Alex Ferguson claims departed hero Cristiano Ronaldo is "streets ahead" of Kaka and Lionel Messi as the best player in the world - but is confident teenage star Federico Macheda will eventually receive the same adulation.

Ferguson only agreed to Ronaldo's desire to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid when the Spanish giants offered to pay an up-front world record payment of £80million this summer.

Many United fans have already claimed they are happy to see the Portugal international go given his increasingly individual approach, particularly as it allows Wayne Rooney to resume the central attacking berth he craves.

However, Ferguson is not joining those now attempting to rewrite history.

Describing Ronaldo's exit as "a massive loss", the United manager paid a glowing tribute to the player he still regards as number one on the planet, even if the title that currently belongs to the former Red Devil is likely to be inherited by Messi this winter.

"Cristiano is a massive loss," Ferguson said.

"I have nothing but praise for the boy. He is easily the best player in the world.

"He is better than Kaka and better than Messi. He is streets ahead of them all.

"His contribution as a goal threat is unbelievable. His stats are incredible. Strikes at goal, attempts on goal, raids into the penalty box, headers. It is all there. Absolutely astounding."

Now all Ferguson can do is watch on as a player he brought to England from Sporting Lisbon as a raw 17-year-old exhibits in La Liga all the ability he nurtured at United's Carrington training ground.

"Three years ago I had a conversation with (then assistant) Carlos Queiroz," recalled Ferguson.

"We thought we would be doing well to keep him for another two, so overall, we have done well to keep him for six years.

"He is a great player. And if he gets the right training regime, as he had at United, he will develop and get even better."

Yet, as he hands over Ronaldo's number seven shirt to Michael Owen, Ferguson is already looking at his next star of the future.

No-one will forget the way Macheda burst onto the scene last spring when he followed up a sensational injury-time winner against Aston Villa by securing another victory against Sunderland a week later.

"Macheda is top drawer, a hero in the making, just as Cristiano was," said Ferguson.

"It is hard to believe he is just 17. We probably need to check his birth certificate because I reckon he is at least 28."

Macheda's public introduction to the United first team also included an FA Cup semi-final appearance against Everton.

Little wonder there has been no sense of awe from the Italian as he mingles with the senior stars on the Red Devils' current Far East tour, and no sign of inferiority either in training, where his eye for goal is even sharper than that of legendary predator Owen.

"Federico has plenty of confidence," admitted Ferguson.

"When he came on the other night he dropped into midfield and ran down their left-side.

"He is a player all right - and tough as old boots. He can look after himself.

"He does not have the lightning reactions of Ronaldo but he is quick around the box and he has an eye for goal.

"He was way in front of everyone with his finishing the other day - and I mean everyone. It was magnificent to see."

Ronaldo has slow 45-minute debut for Real Madrid

Ronaldo v Shamrock Rovers

Cristiano Ronaldo played on Monday evening as a starter against Shamrock Rovers in what was his first ever match for Real Madrid.
The 2008 World Player of the Year performed more like a team player than an individual superstar.

Highlights of the game showed Ronaldo feeding Higuain with a low cross from inside the eighteen yards box but the Argentine striker could not manage to deny the goalkeeper.

Ronaldo, who was placed wide on the right wing – his preferred position – had a good chance to put Real Madrid in front from a long range free-kick. However, the ball flew just wide.
He took another free-kick which ended in disappointment as his strike hit the wall.

After 45 minutes, Cristiano Ronaldo was substituted and despite failing to score at the expectations of many, Real Madrid went on to win with debutant Karim Benzema stealing the spotlights.

Speaking to the media after the match, Ronaldo said:

“I’m a bit tired because we have been training hard three times a day,”

“During the game, I felt a little overloaded, but I’m sure that… soon my performance will be much better.”

“I am in a spectacular team,”

“We played the ball well but the most important thing of this first game is that we won.

“I’m very happy at Real Madrid. It doesn’t matter to me where I play because all the positions are the same. What I want is to integrate into the team as quickly as possible.

“I believe the team have done well, but now we need to find our rhythm.”

Ronaldo: we must all fight in Madrid

Ronaldo trains in Ireland
Manchester Uniteds’s former number 7 ace Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken words about a couple of things regarding football in Real Madrid.

Ronaldo’s statements, which appeared onReal Madrid’s official website, emphasized the need for the Spanish giants to be cautious despite the presence of many big stars.

Cristiano Ronaldo pointed out Real Madrid’s new coach Manuel Pellegrini as a man under much pressure. He said:

“It’s a hard job for the coach, but we all respect each other. Competition is good. I am proud and very happy for being part of this group of players,”

“We must think about winning it all; that’s what Real Madrid is used to. We have great players and a fantastic coach.

“We will win, but if we don’t the entire squad will be to blame. I won’t be just me. I think we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. We have a great team and we will fight to achieve great things.”

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has been enjoying training with the squad in Ireland.

“We are working together and getting to know each other. I will not reveal what our conversations were about, but they have been typical of those between a player and his coach. I hope to keep up the good relationship we have,”

In Real Madrid, things are not the same as in Manchester. Ronaldo told why:

“I had never trained three times in one day, but I think it’s a good thing because we do both physical and ball exercises. The difference really lies in the fact that these are different but equally good players.”

Many people now see Cristiano Ronaldo as a lad obliged to carry a big load on his shoulders and fire Real Madrid to success. But the 94 million euros signing thinks differently:

“I’m just another player who’s here to help Real Madrid. That’s all. I’m the same as the rest, neither better nor worse. In order to win titles we must make a collective effort.”

And sharing the same opinion as Zidane, he concluded:

“I don’t like the term ‘galactico’.

Pepe: Ronaldo can fire Real Madrid to success

Ronaldo the team player
Portugal and Real Madrid defender Pepe believes that Cristiano Ronaldo can guide Los Blancos to success in this new era of Galacticos. However, Pepe also underlined the need for the whole team to get behind the € 94 million signing. Speaking to AS, thePortuguese international explained:

“He can bring many things to Madrid, certainly titles. But Cristiano can’t do it alone because he doesn’t play by himself and that is something everyone must realise,”

“He has the whole team behind him and he has to work hard, too. If we are consistent, Cristiano will be able to shine. With his quality, his class and his talent he will help us a lot in fighting for all the titles.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is not bad like the media show it

There has been so much negative talks over Cristiano Ronaldo’s behaviour in the media but Pepe thinks of Ronaldo differently. He said:

“It’s normal that people have a distorted image of Cristiano because the press nowadays focus more on the issues off the pitch,”

“But Cristiano is very professional. He is very focused on his football and he follows the timetable exactly. He is a humble man, despite of all his surroundings. He doesn’t lose sight of the fact that he’s from Madeira.”

“For the time being, everything is going brilliantly,” Pepe continued talking about the situation in the dressing room.

“Everyone jokes around with him [Ronaldo] and soon, he will integrate fully into his new environment.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently in Ireland with the rest of the squad. Real Madrid are due to play Shamrock Rovers in a friendly match on June 20.

Ronaldo reflects: Real Madrid and Me

CR9 welcomed in Real Madrid

CR9 welcomed in Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo will enjoy the rest of his holidays in his native country Portugal. But before flying back to relax until the holidays are over, he has put fire in the pot.

In an interview with AS, Cristiano Ronaldo said that € 94 million was not enough for his value – a statement which will get on the nerves of many critics.
But Ronaldo, who still has the monumental reception at the Santiago Bernabeu in mind, stated:

“It was incredible. I could not believe what I saw,”

“It was amazing… unbelievable. It makes my hair stand on end just recalling the experience. I did not expect something like that.

He went on to defend the pride of Real Madrid as a great club:

“Ever since I can remember, Madrid have always been the most famous club, even in my hometown of Madeira. They sign all the best players in the world and all the great international figures.

“All the kids of my generation in Portugal talked about Madrid and that’s why it’s a privilege to be here. A young boy’s dream has been fulfilled.

Reflecting on his style of play, which he considered to be selfish in his early years, Cristiano Ronaldo ensured Madrid fans that he will be more the team-player that everyone wants to support. He said:

“There’s no doubt I’m less egoistical now. For sure, four years ago I was only thinking about completing a move by scoring a goal.

“But the experience has helped me to understand that when you are in a team and you become a team player, greater objectives are obtained. In Madrid, people will see a better Cristiano.

“It’s true that the Premier League is faster and more physical and you don’t get to stop for even a second. In Spain, you see more of the ball and the quality of the play is much more valued here.

“For that reason, I believe that with the players that Madrid will have, things are going to go well. I will work hard to adapt as quickly as possible and I do not think that it will be difficult to co-exist with so many other stars.”

Then speaking about Real Madrid’s legendary players, Alfredo Di Stefano and Raul, Ronaldo said:

“I met him [Di Stefano] on the day I arrived at the Bernabeu and it was a pleasure to meet him.

“The No. 9 is a mythical number in Madrid and it was worn by someone as great as he is. It’s the same with the No.7 at Manchester United, which is what I would’ve liked to have here but Raul is wearing it. Still, it will be a pleasure for me to play with the No. 9.

“Raul is a great player, someone who has written the history of this club and on top of that, he comes from the cantera. He has won everything in Madrid and he continues to play well, as you can see by the goals that he scored last season.

“It will be very good to play alongside him.”

The possibility of having Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul playing alongside was manufactured by a mega deal made by Real Madrid. Despite all the criticism surrounding the astronomical fee of this world-record transfer, Cristiano Ronaldo believes that he was worth this payment.

“Of course €94 million should be paid for me. Or more, I think more. Everyone says no, but I say yes. Someone will have to value me.”

Cristiano Ronaldo sells three cars and his house!

Cristiano Ronaldo's houseReal Madrid’s £ 80 million signing Cristiano Ronaldo is planning a big sale of his properties. The 24-year-old superstar has put his three cars up for grabs through Vehicle Consulting.

The three cars (Mercedes C220CDI, Bentley Continental GT Speed, and Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Tiptronic) are said to cost £ 195,740 on the market in all. According to a source, Cristiano Ronaldo is eager to sell his vehicles because of the right-hand drive factor.

Meanwhile, reports also suggest that the Portuguese’s £ 4 million mansion in Cheshire, including cupboards packed with clothes, will also be on sale.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Let’s win the double, Real Madrid!

ronaldo points his finger at something1 150x231 Cristiano Ronaldo: Let’s win the double, Real Madrid! In the past couple of season, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to win the double with Manchester United twice.

In 2008, Ronaldo won both the English Premier League and the Champions League titles with Manchester United. In 2009, Ronaldo helped the Red Devils to retain the league title and to win the Carling Cup trophy.

Now, the 24-year-old Portuguese Superstar is backing Real Madrid to win the double after the Spanish club was overshadowed by Barcelona’s treble success last season.

“We are going to take it step by step. The priority is the league. The Champions League is very nice, but it also depends on luck and the ties you get.

“It’s going to be a difficult mission to get the double, although I think we are going to do very well.

“My hope is to win at Real Madrid everything that I won during my time at Manchester United. With the structure Real Madrid have, this is possible.

“The new players that have arrived must fit in well with those already here so that all together we can win many things at Madrid and make the club a little greater still.”

Cristiano Ronaldo: La Liga and El Clasico, better than ever

Ronaldo did not only mentionned his desire to win for Real Madrid. Speaking to the guardian.co.uk, the world player of the year also tipped La Liga as better than the Premier League as next season will feature the likes of most of the world’s big stars in Spain.

Ronaldo said:

“The Premier League is a very good competition,”

“but I think that the Spanish league is going to have a little more quality because of the players who are arriving.

“Both leagues are going to be very good, but I think that with Florentino Perez’s signings, the Spanish league will be superior to the English.”

And then what about the fierciest derby in the world, the El Clasico? With Real Madrid’s summer transfer signings appearantly getting on the nerves of Barcelona’s Juan La Porta, there is a sensation that the tension in th El Clasicos will be huge. Ronaldo concluded:

“It’s going to be a magnificent competition in Spain this year,”

“All the footballers have a lot of quality and the referees protect the players more.”

Cristiano Ronaldo to be presented at Real Madrid tonight

ronaldo heading to real madrid 150x192 Cristiano Ronaldo to be presented at Real Madrid tonight“My great dream is to win the Champions League in the Santiago Bernabeu next season.” This is one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s most important statements since becoming an official Real Madrid player.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be presented tonight at the Santiago Bernabeu in what promises to be a galactic ceremony. Over 75,000 supporters are expected to attend the stadium to see Florentino Perez’s most expensive signing wear his white jersey for the first ever time.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Trophies first, Ballon d’Ors later

Ahead of tonight’s gala reception in the Spanish capital, the world player of the year has underlined his desire to achieve success in his dream club. Ronaldo went on to put individual awards way behind collective success. The 24-year-old winger is expected by many journalists to reaffirm himself as the world’s best next season, as Messi is predictably going to scoop every award this year.

“Many players have won the Ballon d’Or with Real Madrid. Of course there are aspects of my game which I can improve upon,” Ronaldo suggested. However, he continued:

“But my priority is not the Ballon d’Or, it is the success of the team. I want to one day win the same number of trophies as Di Stefano.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s € 94 million price tag has come under criticism from many people including UEFA’s president Michel Platini. While some are predicting flop years in Spain for Cristiano Ronaldo, the player himself is looking forward to become Real Madrid’s greatest every footballer.

“My objective is to be one of the best players in history, if not the best.

“I will show that I am worth what I was paid for.”

“I admire Raul’s dedication, Guti’s talent and Casillas’ skill.”

“Now I can say that I have completed my dream. Monday will be the biggest moment of my life.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, who avowed that he would have preferred the number 17 jersey, will carry the number 9 jersey in Real Madrid if AS’s reports are to be believed. Coincidently, this number was worn by Real Madrid legend Di Stefano and Brazil’s phenomenal Ronaldo.

Ronaldo expecting a wonderful atmosphere at Real Madrid

Kaka, Benzema, Raul, Arbeloa, perhaps Ribery and Alonso… Well, all these players are expected to feature in Real Madrid come next season. It is a bit hard to imagine how they’ll team up together and what formation they’ll play. But Ronaldo imagines that there will be no problem whatsoever.

He said:

“I am looking forward to playing with Kaka, we are totally compatible. Benzema is very good too, a great player.”

The media, who have been portraying Cristiano Ronaldo as a selfish and arrogant lad, are tipping the Portuguese Star to create an unfriendly atmosphere in the dressing rooms at Real Madrid. However, Cristiano Ronaldo has other ideas. He revealed:

“I am not like the tabloid press say.”

“I am a very friendly and approachable person.”

Tonight will mark a new era in the career of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Breaking news: Frustrated Ronaldo attacks a 17-year-old suspected paparazzi!

ronaldo comes out from his car 150x157 Breaking news: Frustrated Ronaldo attacks a 17 year old suspected paparazzi!Recent reports state that Real Madrid’s new Superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, apparently attacked a 17-year-old girl while on trip in Lisbon.

The story tells that Ronaldo, frustrated by the girl who was filming him in the streets, came out from his £200,000 red Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano to affront her. He then kicked the window of the car where the young girl was sitting and that slices of the glass which broke were left all over the girl.
There were cuts on the arm of the lady who had to go to the hospital to be treated. The case was later reported to the police.

Pardal understands that the 17-year-old girl was a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, but some reports believe that she could be working that out alongside a photographer, or a freelance paparazzi by herself.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s management company explained the incident in a released statement:

“Because of his mother Dolores’ despair, Cristiano Ronaldo finally reacted impulsively, kicking the car of the individual concerned and his travelling companion.”

In an apology made by Cristiano Ronaldo today and quoted by The Sun, the Portuguese winger explained his version of the story:

“I was accompanied by my mother, and he by a young woman who throughout our whole journey ostensibly and provocatively filmed all our movements.

“This persecution caused my mother to be so disturbed and upset that I had to stop my car to try to convince them to leave us in peace.

“I try to swallow it and remain indifferent. But when my mother is involved, then I’m sorry but I don’t let anyone, I repeat anyone, harass her.

“I regret what I did, but I can’t promise that I would not react in the same way again in the same circumstances.”

Kaka: There will be no rivalry between me and Ronaldo.

real madrid kaka smiles 150x98 Kaka: There will be no rivalry between me and Ronaldo.Fifa’s 2007 World Player of the Year, Ricardo Kaka, was finally unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday, June 30.

There was a memorable and glamorous ceremony conducted at the Santiago Bernabeu where over 40,000 fans gathered to see the event. Kaka also made his first press conference as an official Real Madrid player.

Among the numerous questions that fell on the table, an obvious one did not miss out. Kaka, who dreams of winning another Ballon d’Or award, was asked whether there will be a rivalry between him and Ronaldo in Real Madrid.

Looking at Jorge Valdano, the Brazilian playmaker bombastically repeated:

“Will CR7 be a rival?”

As the press was anxiously waiting for his response, he went on to declare:

“There is no rivalry. He will be a team-mate, and we’re compatible players and of course we’re going to be able to play together.

“And off the pitch, there’s no rivalry. This is not the way I am, and not the way I see life and football.

“We are both winners, we both have the same ambitions, so I think we both have the same objectives.”

Kaka and Ronaldo are poised to make their debut in a Real Madrid shirt later this month, when Los Blancos face L.D.U in the Peace Cup tournament staged in Andalusia.

Alex Ferguson: Farewell, Cristiano Ronaldo!

happy fergie 150x112 Alex Ferguson: Farewell, Cristiano Ronaldo! The deal is completely done and dusted. Manchester United have today received Real Madrid’s £80 million offer in full payment. Cristiano Ronaldo also became an official Real Madrid player on July 1.

Speaking about the Portuguese fleet-footed player and his departure, Sir Alex Ferguson stated:

“Cristiano has been a marvellous player for Manchester United. His six years at Old Trafford have seen him develop into the best footballer in the world.

“His contribution has been a major factor in the club’s success in that time and his talent, his ability to entertain and his infectious personality have enthralled fans the world over.

“Everyone here wishes him well in his future career.”

Most of the players who fell out with Manchester United or Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving the club apparently struggled to find their foot in their next club. Will it be the case for Cristiano Ronaldo?
